How is the duration between two times calculated?
Both times are converted to minutes past midnight and subtracted. 9:15 am to 12:45 pm is 765 - 555 = 210 minutes, which is 3 hours 30 minutes.
What if the end time is on the next day?
The calculator handles it automatically: when the end time is earlier than the start time, it adds 24 hours. So a night shift from 10:00 pm to 6:00 am shows 8 hours, and it tells you the span crossed midnight.
