What is the formula connecting speed, distance and time?
Speed = distance / time. Rearranged: distance = speed x time, and time = distance / speed. The classic memory aid is the DST triangle - D on top, S and T below - cover the one you want and the triangle shows the formula.
How do I convert km/h to m/s?
Multiply by 5/18. So 36 km/h is 10 m/s. To go the other way, multiply m/s by 18/5. This conversion is a favourite in Class 7 exams.
When do children meet these problems in school?
Simple speed-distance-time word problems start around Class 5 and get more involved (relative speed, trains crossing platforms) by Class 7 and 8.
How do I enter a time of 90 minutes?
Either 1 in the hours box and 30 in the minutes box, or just 90 in the minutes box - both work. The calculator converts everything to hours internally.
